SPECIAL OFFER ON WHOLE BEANSposted on 9 July 2012 | posted in Latest Deals | ( 0 ) CommentsThe truth is that coffee is an expensive habit. (I considered saying "expensiveluxury" but I know how many emails I would get from those who will say thattheir habit is a necessity not a luxury.) We live in difficult economic timesand many coffee lovers also have to be good bargain hunters. So how can we makesure that we don't break the bank or lower our standards? We would love to be able to provideyou with our excellent coffee at rates that compete with Nescafe Gold Blend, but that's not going to happen (Sorry to disappoint you). However many of ushave within our grasp a chance to IMPROVE the quality of the coffee we drink WITHOUT it costing a fortune! Now that has got to be good so what's the secret? Simples! Buy coffee beans in 1 Kg bagsinstead of 8 oz or whatever size you have been used to. Now I can't make that kind of commentwithout some clarification. If you are used to buying your coffee ground, youwill find that roasters limit the size of the bags of ground coffee they sell. There is a good reason for this. Coffee goes off if it is exposed to oxygen fortoo long. An open bag of ground coffeewill be unlikely to last longer than a week. In fact the way some people storetheir coffee, it could last less than 1 day. In a coffee shop with an espresso machine they are often encouraged todispose of any coffee ground more than 7 minutes ago! So, in order to buy 1Kg of coffee at atime you are going to have to buy WHOLE BEANS and that means purchasing agrinder. Grinders come in many sizes, qualities and designs. A coffee shop willspend £200 or more on their grinder. Espresso machines are extremely demandingregarding the grind of coffee they use. (Changes in the grind which areunnoticeable to most of us could completely ruin the quality of the espressoproduced.) Other coffee makers are moreforgiving. It is still true though that the grind is important. This is why thebest grinders are burr grinders. I won'tgo into that debate now as I have covered it in other blogs, however cafetieresand the AeroPress are more forgiving and a blade grinder can produce a grindthat will work well in these coffee makers. So invest in a burr grinder and thenbuy whole coffee beans in 1Kg bags. Enjoy better coffee AND over about a year spendless! What could be better... ...
